The value of the hand is ascertained by totaling the values of all the cards in each hand. Number cards 2 to 9 are counted at face value, aces are valued at 1, and the value of 10′s, jacks, queens and kings is ‘0’. In case the value of all cards together is 10 or above, 10 get deducted from the total and the value remaining in the hand is counted. For instance the value of 14 is read as 4.
