This rule prevails over all other rules. In case neither the player nor the banker has an 8 or 9, the play goes on by initiating the third card rules in the following way. If the overall value of the player’s hand is between 0 and 5, a third card is dealt to the player and the value of all the three cards are taken together. In case the player’s cards are 6 or 7, the hand will stand. The banker is allowed to draw a third card in case the total value of his cards is between 0 and 5 and the value of player’s cards is at 6 or 7.

The value of the hand is established by summing up the values of all the cards. The number cards 2 to 9 are calculated at face value, aces have a value of 1, and the value of kings, queens, jacks and 10′s is ‘0’. If the value of cards is 10 or above, deduction of 10 is made to get the total and the value left in the hand is calculated. For instance the value of 12 becomes 2.
